In 2021, Humat Dijlah Association team filled the city of Mosul with environmental activities, which were done in many different forms such as campaigns, meetings with decision makers, dialogue and conventions. And also the targets were from the whole community such as general public, activities that were directly for women, students, children with special needs and their main aim was to enter every house of the city of Mosul, also they discussed every aspect of the environmental challenges that Iraq faces in general and on a more specific level the challenges that Mosul faces as a city.

Campaign were held on many different levels and different subjects such as polluting the river waters with waste and polluted water, lacking sewage networks, environment as a general topic, the less use of plastic bags and the more use of the paper bags, the proper ways of protecting ourselves against Covid-19, and these awareness campaigns were done in different areas all over the city, in public parks for kids, in the special treatment center for kids with autism, in the markets, bakeries, malls, pharmacies, the streets of the city. And awareness posters and brochure were used, along with explaining the problems we have in detail to the people, plays and acting were used as a method to make it easier to learn for the kids.

Dialogue was also something the team used for a better communication with the community , as they held a gathering especially for women in a public park, talking about lessening the use of plastic and use substitutes that are reusable, and using less plastic in saving water and food and try new, healthier and better methods. Also meetings were held with decision makers, representors and delegations from different ministries of the government and especially with ministry of environment and health.

Booth setting and participating in cultural events also helped to introduce new people to our association, for people to be aware of our activities and know the fields that we work in them, and Humat Dijlah Association team set a booth in a public park and shared brochures that have information regarding the association and also the works that the association does, and also Humat Dijlah Association team participated in the cultural activities of Suhail Street in Bartala District in Nineveh Governorate, which also included sharing brochures and explaining to the visitors who are Humat Dijlah Association and  what are the fields that we work in, alongside sharing awareness regarding the pollution we have on both land and water level and the less use of plastic and encouraging to use paper bags as a better object.

The team of Humat Dijlah Association attended the Environmental Disaster Reduction Conference, which took place in Mosul University, which aimed to exchange scientific and applied ideas among the researchers, and mention the latest updates regarding the limitation of environmental disasters, and during the conference the team of Humat Dijlah Association met with decision makers and delegations from the ministry of health and environment, Humat Dijlah Association in partnership with Riyadah Organization held the first Water and Environment Convention in Nineveh Governorate, the conference were attended by many governmental, academic personals and many department managers of Nineveh Governorate, such as the department of environment, water resources, municipality and many other departments, the conference aimed to show the environmental reality of the city after what came upon it, with ISIS destroying its infrastructure and finding possible solutions for pollutions on Tigris river and the savings of our water resources.

On world environment day, the team of Humat Dijlah Association alongside Directorate of Environment in Nineveh, held the activities of world environment day, the activities were giving awareness lectures regarding the environment, water, and the risks of pollution, plastics and waste. And many speakers attended the event and spoke about the problems we face in Iraq, and the dangers of our environmental pollution alongside the damages that plastic does to our environment.

With all the problems and destruction that came upon the city of Mosul, the people of it still show that they care for their city and its environment, and the amazing responses for the activities of Humat Dijlah Association are bare witness upon that truth, the team aimed to reach the heart of everyone in the community of the city of Mosul, and it succeeded, with the awareness campaigns, dialogue sessions, conference and  participating in the event of the city, a pure connection was made that the core of it is to make the place we live in better for ourselves and the next generation.
